Spent the better part of this evening at Le Nordik, the National Capital region's foremost/only Scandinavian spa with my co-worker, Junko. After enjoying a light snack of pita and hummus accompanied by chilled potato and leek soup, I had a one hour Scandinavian massage. It was actually an enjoyable experience despite my strong aversion to being touched by strangers. It was gentle but effective. Those who like to be in pain during their massages might want to order a different type of massage.
We then retired to the pools, steam bath and sauna, which I loved! Apparently, the proper routine is hot (sauna, steam bath) then cold (Nordik water pool) then temperate relaxation area. However, it was freezing cold tonight, so standing around in a bathing suit outside served as an appropriate substitute for the cold water pool. I highly recommend it, though I did miss my little Icelandic friend, Naked Androgynous Showering Instruction Diagram.
